Family Navigation: Season 3: Winter | Season 5: Summer

Welcome back to the Berry family and our, what is now called, Super Extended NSB challenge. I’m excited to have you here and to be sharing our latest season with the family. Last time we were here Andes worked hard at her job, getting up to level 8, and her aspirations, completing both required aspirations last round. Makenzie had their son Rory, and he grew up all the way to child during the round. Then the family celebrated Winterfest, and Andes’ completed the MySims collection. Let’s see how it’s going now!

When we join the family at 4 AM (which is going to be changing in later rounds when we get to university time for people because I need to leave the family before 6 PM (before grades are posted) so they don’t get suspended) the family is all awake and sent quickly back to bed.

During the Hundred’s update, we actually got quite a few family events for Makenzie’s family. Fiona, Makenzie’s sister had a lot of events. She had a birthday, got married, and moved into her husband’s house and then she also became a surveyor. Makenzie’s brother Hayden got married to Ash, who is one of the townies from HSY.

Andes and Makenzie share some spaghetti, which I think was chickpea maybe? It’s one of the healthy food items that Andes is able to cook with her lifestyle. Poor Makenzie is not very happy right now, although I can’t remember why.

It’s a very gloomy spring in Brindleton and Andes heads out to the microscope to work on her logic and the collection. While Andes is out working on her skills, Makenzie is inside working on her painting and manages to complete a new milestone.

Andes has started going to bed in, and therefore waking up and staying in, the underwear I have given her for some occasions. I wouldn’t think you would want to cook wearing this, but, honestly, I think Andes looks good. She is decently fit still and that look on her face….it’s like she’s looking right at me.

Rory and Andes manage to get the jokesters dynamic, which I’m sure everyone is very surprised about. However, in the course of this Andes’ also discovers she’s a goofball. This is quite fitting with the fact she just became jokesters with her son.

I am sure hoping that risky isn’t going to rear it’s head in this challenge since these two are only meant to have a single child (although an alien baby would have also been included in the family if I had set it so the females were also able to be impregnated by abduction.)

Andes has not been making a lot of progress at work yet, and to top it all off the computers keep breaking. However, we have managed to make the Embiggen potion, and thus we use it on ourselves since one of the optional goals is to min/max ‘weight’ and potions are ok. Then we use the Simlify potion on ourselves too.

It’s Love day and Makenzie works on a new painting, which is yet another painting I have never seen before, and then Rory hands his mom a flower, that she really likes. After Rory is in bed it’s time for Andes and Makenzie to spend time together.

At work the next day Andes has to get some gardening practice in by trimming the Bonzi tree. Since Andes needs to max her gardening skill this is a task I’m happy to take on. Andes did so well that she got a promotion, which brings us to level 9!

Rory is a good kid and he works on his homework out in the gloomy evening. Spring is so rainy here it’s often that a rainstorm hits the land. This has caused a lot of Andes outdoor trees to constantly drip.

Andes continues to do well at work and is back to mixing and testing out serums, both tainted and untainted. We have gotten close to having all the serums we’ve unlocked tested at both levels, which is great progress for us. Many of them we do still test on our co-workers, especially the tainted ones.

That evening Andes takes a new ride with the aliens. She’s been getting taken quite a bit and I have no doubt that if we had it tuned to allow it Andes would have gotten pregnant with an alien baby by now. In this house, however, we are happy to just have the 3 sims.

Rory manages to finish up the Rambunctious Scamp aspiration and gets the Creatively Gifted aspiration next. He should be able to finish this one up. Andes, after getting taken by the aliens, develops a fear of the dark, which is interesting.

Clearly distracted, Andes manages to set the kitchen on fire. Luckily she manages to put it out with the freeze ray, although how she manages to put out the stove while freezing the sink I do not know. Luckily, regardless of how it might work, the fire is put out and Andes starts dinner a second time.

Andes has been having a lot of fun at work recently, freezing and mind-controlling her various co-workers. Her mischief side really enjoys these pranks, as well as consistently testing serums over and over again.

Andes has a star of fame from something, I don’t fully remember where it was from, maybe something from her work. Either way, that fame has given her a new quirk, Emotion Bomb. This should be an interesting journey.

Rory gets himself a loose tooth and he wiggles it and wiggles it until eventually, it manages to come out. We forget, for days, to put it under his pillow, but do finally remember and he gets this message. I am not really sure what the upgrade he got was, but ok.

The family spends a lot of time together over the weekend. They work on skills and aspirations but also is a great time to work on homework and just spend time together. Makenzie even painted what is another new painting for me, which I love.

The flea market was in town and so the family decided to go check it out. Who was there but Rosa Petal selling a nearly completed set of snow globes. Andes talks to her for a bit and then buys up all the snow globes she is selling. Meanwhile, Makenzie and Rory watch the living statue.

Rory finishes up his aspiration after getting home from the flea market and gets the Slumber Party Animal next. I’m not sure if he’ll be able to finish this up or not, but we’ll give it a shot. I haven’t tried this one quite yet.

Andes is back at work and once again working on serums, and also working with the constructor. I believe we are down to 2 upgrades needed and have created all the inventions. We cannot finish upgrading the simray or the teleporter without being level 10, but everything else has been done.

That day at school Rory worked at making friends and then invited all of the kids over after school so Makenzie and Andes could meet them. We need to be able to throw a slumber party after all, but we are running out of time.

Andes, that night, goes into a rage, one of her first major emotion bombs thanks to her quirk. She’s been working hard and hasn’t been spending enough time with Makenzie for her taste and has been tense off and on the whole time we’ve been with her.

Next time Andes is at work she’s backing to mischievously using the SimRay on her co-workers. Sometimes simply mind controlling them to do things like clean, or change clothes, and sometimes freezing them.

That night Rory holds a slumber party with his new school friends and it goes really well, however, we realize later that he would need to hold another slumber party and get gold for his aspiration and we won’t have time to do that.

Rory has decided he likes Deception now, thanks to a conversation with his mother. Andes, on the other hand, has become Paranoid. Along with her Jealousy trait, this should make life very interesting for her. Makenzie and Andes are now jokesters.

Rory and his stuffed dragon have had a contentious relationship for a while thanks to Rory’s hot-headedness. So we take a little time to work on social skills while making it up to Draco (or whatever we named him.)

Rory has managed to make a good enough friend to share a friendship bracelet with her. This was needed for our aspiration and puts him on the final milestone, but this is where we discovered the need for another sleepover.

Makenzie decides she enjoys cooking and this is probably just as well, since even though Andes does most of the cooking there are times when Makenzie needs to cook for herself.

It is time for Rory’s birthday and so Makenzie invites the members of her family that she is able to over for the celebration. Sadly Andes was at work and so we hold the party without her this time. Rory blows out his candles and heads outside to grow up into a teen.

Here is our boy after his makeover. He will eventually become a politician and I think he’s a cutie. A bit of a nerd, but pretty good-looking and looks like someone who would go into politics, not that I would understand the desire. I’m excited to take him through his teen years.

After the party was over, Makenzie gets a call from her dad. It’s a stayover event, and I had to laugh that they want to help out with the “little one.” Thinking it would be Makenzie’s parents I say yes, and then I see who all is coming. Makenzie’s mom and dad, her brothers, sister, and sister-in-law. That is a LOT of people, and look how long they are staying!!!

The house is overrun in no time, and while this is great for Makenzie, Rory, and Andes to get to know the extended Thompson family. Makenzie’s one sister seems to be the only child who is not currently living with the family as she is living with her husband.

Andes and Ash (married to Hayden as we saw earlier) are going to be best friends now, and she is a perfectionist. This trait makes a ton of sense for Andes, since she is likely needing to be pretty “perfect” at work.

Amazingly right toward the end of the round Andes maxes out her gardening skill and her logic skill! That is awesome and leaves us with only a few goals left. She is near her final work promotion, which will let her finish upgrading the inventions. Then she simply has to finish the serums, crystals, metals, microscope prints, and elements. It’s still a lot, but it’s great.

Javon, Makenzie’s youngest brother, wants to be best friends with Rory, and then asked to go to Prom with him. We instead convinced him to skip out on prom with us. Then, we found this candy in Rory’s inventory and couldn’t help but share it.

Andes and Makenzie love the extended family, but they are around EVERYWHERE. It’s pretty crazy. It is nice to have the social time with all of them, however, and I have realized that I need to start turning off the relationship changes through MCCC and turn it on only for the 1 week so we don’t keep losing relationships.

As 4 AM rolls around Andes, Makenzie, and Rory are all in bed, but the extended family is in the living room just hanging out. They all have to be starting to get tired. Either way, they will leave next time (or should) and then we will be back to the quiet house we are used to. For now, that wraps up our round with the Berry’s, and next up is the Keet’s. I hope you will join us over there!
